How to Make a Gift
Click on the sections below for more information and instructions on how you can support EBCF. Gifts to the following two funds are especially appreciated.
- EBCF Future Fund. Our success in the community is directly linked to the strength of our organization. By making a gift to the Future Fund, you fortify EBCF’s foundation so we can plan, innovate, and get ahead on issues affecting East Bay residents. Your support funds rapid response grantmaking and critical infrastructure, allowing EBCF’s leaders to resource community partners and advocate for change. Together, we can weather future crises like pandemics, climate change, and political instability to build a just and inclusive future for the East Bay.
- Campaign for a Just East Bay (CAMP) is a central fund for strategic investment that mobilized $4.2M over the 2024 fiscal year. Because no single organization can create the just and inclusive East Bay we all deserve, CAMP pools our community’s resources to magnify our collective impact and accelerate change. By making a gift to CAMP, you support EBCF’s core grantmaking as well as our leadership work across the East Bay.
All contributions to EBCF received or postmarked on or before December 31 will be credited to that tax year.

Making a cryptocurrency contribution is a simple and tax-efficient way to support your community and help advance an inclusive, fair, and just East Bay. EBCF partners with BitPay to process donations of cryptocurrency. Click here to get started.
IRA QCDs or IRA Charitable Rollovers, as they are sometimes called, are an increasingly popular way for donors 70 ½ or older to support EBCF. You can make up to $105,000 in tax-free charitable distributions annually, supporting communities right here in the East Bay, lowering your taxable income and, if you’re 73 or older, helping you meet your minimum distribution requirement or RMD.
Contact your IRA plan administrator and ask them to initiate a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). We suggest that you begin this process by December 1 to ensure that the distribution is made before the December 31 deadline. All QCDs must be made directly to East Bay Community Foundation by your plan administrator. Your plan administrator may have a form for you to complete.
If you have check writing privileges, make the check payable to “East Bay Community Foundation.” Please allow enough time for the check to clear to ensure that the funds are withdrawn during your preferred tax year.
Please note that QCDs are not permitted to Donor Advised Funds (DAFs). By directly transferring funds from your IRA to EBCF, you can satisfy your annual RMD requirement without increasing your taxable income. Every dollar contributed directly to EBCF’s Future Fund *or* Campaign For A Just East Bay is a dollar put to work in our community, supporting strategic grants and initiatives that drive meaningful change.
