East Bay Community Foundation and Akonadi Foundation are committed to building a future where all people can meaningfully participate in the systems that affect their lives.
Together we lead the Multiracial Democracy Funders Table, a collaborative bringing philanthropic partners together to turn the dream of a multiracial democracy into a reality.
Over the last several years our shared work has invested in year-round civic engagement efforts, bolstered public and private partnership, and advanced equitable policy solutions that build people power and center the needs of everyday people. We believe that when funders work in lockstep with community and civic leaders our ability to turn investments into tangible impact amplifies.
Across our two foundations, over the past six months we have deployed over $750,000 to support community-led efforts aiming to bend the arc of our democracy towards justice.
With the election right around the corner, we encourage our communities to ensure their voices are heard. Voting is a powerful opportunity to both practice democracy and turn beliefs into action.
Before the polls close on Tuesday evening, here are two things you can do:
- Participate and make your voice heard! You can learn more about what is on your ballot here and find your polling place here.
- Get out the vote! Organize three others around you to participate. Talk to your friends, families, and neighbors. Our voices matter.
We all have the power to make the East Bay a place where everyone can flourish and belong.
