Oakland, CA – East Bay Community Foundation (EBCF) announces that Tyson Jue has been selected as the foundation’s new Chief Operating Officer. Tyson joins EBCF from Chinatown Community Development Center in San Francisco where he was the Deputy Director of Administration leading internal operations and supporting board governance.
“Tyson brings a collaborative, community-first approach to everything he does,” said Brandi Howard, President and CEO of EBCF. “His leadership is grounded in data, driven by values, and focused on systems that work for people. He is the kind of visionary and pragmatic leader I want by my side as we write the next chapter of EBCF’s history.”
Tyson is a public sector and nonprofit leader with more than twenty years of experience working to build stronger, more equitable communities. He has a track record of creating and managing programs, teams, and systems that improve outcomes in areas like early childhood development, affordable housing, and community development. In addition to his nonprofit experience, Tyson has advised elected officials, managed local campaigns, and led strategies that engage and mobilize communities to advocate for change.
“I’m excited to join EBCF because of its deep commitment to advancing racial equity and building inclusive, thriving communities,” says Tyson. “EBCF’s focus on systems change and community-led solutions aligns perfectly with my passion and experience for creating lasting impact through strategic policy, philanthropy, and cross-sector collaboration.”
At Chinatown Community Development Center, Tyson led internal operations—spanning facilities, IT, and HR—and supported board governance. Prior to that, he also held executive roles at First 5 Alameda County, First 5 Santa Clara County, and the San Francisco Office of Early Care and Education, helping guide multimillion-dollar agencies focused on children and families.
Tyson will oversee EBCF’s internal operations, technology and innovation roadmap, and strategic planning, and support the CEO and senior leadership team with priority initiatives.
