Friends, as I approach my 75th birthday, I invite you to help me celebrate this milestone by supporting an organization close to my heart: Radical Monarchs.
Radical Monarchs affirms girls and gender expansive young people* by teaching them leadership, activism, and confidence through a lens of social justice. In a stark departure from the Brownie troop I was in as a child, Radical Monarch troops earn badges in friendship, LGBTQ+ pride, body positivity, roots, herstorical legacy, environmental justice, Black Lives Matter, social justice innovation, advocacy, and entrepreneurship. Wow!
I love this organization because it counteracts the oppressive and undermining messages society gives these girls, and replaces them with lived experience of empowerment, leadership, and taking action to make the world a better place.
In lieu of traditional birthday gifts, I hope to channel the spirit of giving into creating impactful change. My goal is to raise $20,000 for Radical Monarchs. I appreciate your participation. Even the smallest contribution can help fuel the dreams of these future leaders and activists.
During this political period when we might be feeling discouraged and helpless to stop the harm we see being done around us, this is one place we can make a big, positive difference. Remember that timeless adage “Think globally, act locally”? Let’s come together here to create a strong legacy of kindness and commitment by investing in these girls…and in the amazing women they are on their way to becoming.
