IRA QCDs or IRA Charitable Rollovers, as they are sometimes called, are an increasingly popular way for donors 70 ½ or older to support EBCF. You can make up to $105,000 in tax-free charitable distributions annually, supporting communities right here in the East Bay, lowering your taxable income and, if you’re 73 or older, helping you meet your minimum distribution requirement or RMD.
You can make a QCD gift if:
- You are over 70½.
- You transfer funds directly from a traditional IRA or a Roth IRA, and your IRA gifts for a given tax year are up to $105,000 per individual.
- You transfer the gift outright to EBCF, but not to a supporting organization, Donor Advised Fund (DAF), charitable trust, or gift annuity.
Given these restrictions, making a gift to EBCF is an excellent option for donors and fund advisors who want to invest in the East Bay while also taking advantage of the benefits of QCDs. By giving to EBCF, you support our strategic grantmaking, leadership and capacity-building efforts, public-philanthropic partnerships, and other programmatic work across the East Bay. You can learn more about our impact here.
To initiate a QCD from your IRA to EBCF, your IRA trustee will need the following information:
Legal name: East Bay Community Foundation
Taxpayer ID: 94-6070996
Address: 200 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Oakland, CA 94612
IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) Form
"*" indicates required fields
When EBCF receives the QCD gift from your financial institution, EBCF will provide you with an acknowledgement letter of the gift date and amount, stating no goods or services were transferred to you in consideration for the gift.
