Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager will work closely with the Vice President of HR & Operations and will help manage and maintain the daily operations of the HR function which will include leading and overseeing all recruitment and hiring processes, reimagining an approach to onboarding and staff engagement, and executing regular HR administrative functions. The Human Resources Manager will also help ensure compliance with Local, State and Federal employment laws and regulations.

Essential Responsibilities

Recruitment, Hiring, and Onboarding
  • Redesign and manage the full talent acquisition process from identifying appropriate marketing strategies for positions through onboarding new staff members
  • Partner closely with hiring managers to provide training, guidance, and support and to ensure values-aligned interview processes
  • Assist with drafting job descriptions, communicating with candidates and with conducting interviews to ensure a positive hiring experience for all candidates
  • Redesign and manage a comprehensive staff onboarding process for all new hires
Staff Development & Engagement
  • Identify, maintain, and regularly share learning and professional development opportunities and resources with staff members
  • Partner with local and national philanthropic organizations that can provide trainings and growth opportunities for staff members
  • Design, administer, and conduct analyses of staff engagement surveys
  • Develop and implement creative and innovative strategies to increase staff engagement
  • Conduct stay and exit interviews to identify strategies to improve staff engagement
  • Help plan, organize, and execute organization-wide team building activities
Human Resources Administration
  • Enter and maintain accurate and up-to-date employment documentation and information with our Professional Employment Organization
  • Support and assist with the development, implementation, interpretation and consistent application of human resources policies and procedures
  • Assist with effectively communicating all human resources related information with staff members
  • Provide excellent customer service to all staff members, board members, and partners and build and maintain trust, credibility and confidentiality
  • Stay current on developments and innovations in the fields of human resources and philanthropy
  • Help ensure compliance with organizational policies, program, and activities

Candidate will possess:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in the field of human resources that includes managing recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and/or staff engagement programs;
  • Strong knowledge of human resources principles, procedures, and practices and solid knowledge of CA employment regulations;
  • Willingness to apply the core values of EBCF (Racial Equity, Racial Justice, Centering BIPOC Communities, Disruption & Discomfort, and Integrity) in their role and responsibilities;
  • A demonstrated commitment to and familiarity and comfort with racial justice and racial equity practices;
  • Ability to demonstrate exemplary judgement, discretion, and integrity regarding all employee related matters;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and desire to establish and maintain effective and respectful working relationships across the Foundation;
  • Strong organization skills, and ability to keep multiple projects moving forward on time
  • Flexibility and adaptability to achieve project goals;
  • Ability to approach each day with curiosity, humor, integrity, humility, and compassion;
  • Commitment to being part of a team, learning, accountability, openness to conflict, and attention to results; and
  • Passion for racial justice and social justice movements, community organizing, and capacity building.

Compensation

The starting salary for this position is $80,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience and background. EBCF offers an excellent benefits package.
