CEO, Thomas J. Long Foundation (Ret.)
MARK FRIEDMAN is former Chief Executive Officer of the Thomas J. Long Foundation in Walnut Creek and was a three-term Council member in the City of El Cerrito, including two terms as mayor. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of First 5 Alameda County for 15 years before moving on in 2014.
Prior to that he worked for two county supervisors, directed several non-profit organizations including the Plant Closures Project in Oakland organizing for economic justice and Special Child, an agency serving children with developmental disabilities in Colorado. He is Chair of the Earn It Keep It Save It campaign in Alameda County California that works to provide free tax assistance to needy individuals and expand access to the Earner Income Tax Credit. He is the former President of the First 5 Association of California and currently serves as its Advocacy Chair. He also has worked as a preschool teacher and a professional puppeteer.
