Senior Communications Officer
Erin Talbert-Brust is the Sr. Communications Officer and assumes day-to-day management of our communications activities. She is a graduate of the University of California, Davis where she earned dual degrees in Film Studies and African and African American Studies.
Erin comes to the East Bay Community Foundation (EBCF) from an Oakland-based nonprofit focused on mobilizing young leaders to organize in the movement to end mass incarceration and youth criminalization. In her role as the Communications Director, Erin led earned media strategies resulting in campaign coverage for SB1421 in the Los Angeles Times, NPR, and Axios. She also maintained responsibility for rebranding the organization’s materials, mission statement, and visual identity to more accurately reflect its work, and secured thought leadership pieces with the East Bay Times advocating for a change in approach to our criminal justice system.
Before this, Erin was Senior Account Executive at Hill & Knowlton Strategies (H+K) where her clients included Dolby Laboratories, Target, and Deloitte. In this position, Erin managed client accounts, media relations, and developed messaging and language for internal and external campaigns. Erin has also worked in film and video production; creating documentaries that examine a variety of social issues related to culture, ethnicity, and gender that affect people around the globe.
A SoCal native, Erin has lived in the Bay Area since 2016 and now calls Oakland home.
