One way donors partner with the East Bay Community Foundation is by establishing scholarship funds with us. These funds have different purposes and application processes depending on the intent of the donor establishing the fund.

Some of these funds award scholarships directly to individuals and some to the institutions providing instruction.

All scholarships are awarded impartially and for charitable purposes. They comply with the codes and statutes of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. The Foundation’s Board of Directors approves the principles, policies, procedures and guidelines for each scholarship fund.

Our role in the administration and management of these funds varies, depending upon formal agreements with the donors establishing the funds. With some scholarship funds, we are responsible for investing the funds and ensuring scholarship checks are distributed to recipients or to educational institutions. With other scholarship funds, we also assist in managing or coordinating the application process.
