Earthquake Relief

Nicole TaylorDear Friends of the East Bay Community Foundation –

As focused as we are here at the Foundation on meeting the serious needs of our region, world events occasionally propel us into action beyond our local borders. So it is with the devastating earthquakes in Chile and Haiti.

These quakes have caused unbearable death and destruction. You have seen it on TV and on the internet, heard about it on the radio, and read about it in newspapers.

Haiti is the western hemisphere’s poorest nation. Some 80 percent of Haitians live below the poverty line. This earthquake has moved a nation already on the precipice into a more devastating state.

Many aid organizations are already on the ground in Haiti. They can leverage your generosity into meaningful help for victims.

An 8.8-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Chile on February 27th has resulted in catastrophic damage and tsunamis in the Pacific.

If you choose to assist one of the organizations below, you will be providing a direct line of assistance to those in need.

Please help in whatever way you are able.

With hope for all those touched by these disasters – and I believe that is all of us,

Nicole Taylor
