The East Bay Community Foundation and our donors make grants to nonprofits that serve Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. The Foundation’s responsive grantmaking will target four geographic areas and two topical focus areas. The geographies include:
- Oakland
- Richmond
- East Contra Costa County (Antioch, Bay Point, Brentwood, Pittsburg)
- Tri Cities area of Southern Alameda County (Fremont, Newark, Union City)

The East Bay Community Foundation is committed to promoting equity and inclusion in all our grantmaking. We support organizations that value diversity of culture, race, language, and sexual orientation -- and that reflect that diversity in the composition of their staff and board.
Grants are not awarded for:
- Endowments, capital expenditures and annual fund appeals.
- Direct assistance to individuals.
- Religious organizations for religious purposes.
- Fundraising events and agency celebrations.
- Existing obligations, deficits or retroactive funding for costs already incurred.
- For-profit entities.
- Partisan political activities.
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of age, race, gender, national origin, ethnicity, veteran status, sexual orientation or disability.
