Senior Community Development Officer
Debrah Giles is responsible for managing initiatives with our partners in the private sector and providing support to our key corporate grantmaking accounts. She came to the East Bay Community Foundation following 14 years with Sun Microsystems in their Global Community Development Group managing international, national and regional grantmaking programs such as their International Disaster Relief, Multi-year Educational Grants and Global Giftmatching programs. Debrah previously worked for Barnes & Noble, Inc. in Dublin as their Community Relations Manager.
She is Board Secretary for Community Action Alliance, a nonprofit organization in Oakland that supports families experiencing homelessness or poverty by providing transitional housing and by connecting families to support resources and services. She is also a member and former Board Member of Bay Area Blacks in Philanthropy, and a member of the Oakland Education Funders’ Forum, the Alameda County Funders’ Forum and the Bay Area Justice Funders’ Network.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from St. Mary’s College.
