Debrah Giles is responsible for assisting the Director of Public Private Partnerships managing initiatives with our partners in the private sector. She came to the East Bay Community Foundation following more than 14 years working for Sun Microsystems in their Global Community Development Group (Foundation) managing national and regional grantmaking programs. She was responsible for supporting senior, regional and field management in community relations and volunteer projects. She also developed and guided major funding programs, such as their International Disaster Relief, Multi-year Educational Grants and Global Giftmatching programs.
Debrah previously worked for Barnes & Noble, Inc. in Dublin as their Community Relations Manager. There, she created and coordinated special events to support local schools, literacy-focused organizations and arts organizations.
She is Board Secretary for Community Action Alliance, a nonprofit organization in Oakland that supports families experiencing homelessness or poverty by providing transitional housing and by connecting families to support resources and services. She is also a former Board Member of Bay Area Blacks in Philanthropy.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from St. Mary’s College.
